This year's Closed tournaments went very smoothly and had much tough, hard fought chess. Andy Rea, the lowest rated player in the Closed, swept through the tournament irresistably, scattering the opposition before him. His performance rating was well up in the 2500s. Katie Roberts-Hoffman similarly outclassed the Scholastics section, but this was less of a surprise.
A round-by-round report on the tournament, with annotated games, will be in the next Colorado Chess Informant.
