Those chess players who either win a first through tenth place individual trophy at the Colorado Scholastic Chess Championship in 2004 or who are within 100 points of the USCF top 100 age-restricted list at the time of application for GO CHESS are eligible.

The purpose of this program is strictly to aid those top scholastic players who otherwise could not afford to travel and enter the National tournament or for whom the expenses would place a real financial burden on their family.

To apply:
  1. Submit a letter stating intent to apply for the scholarship.
  2. Include a recommendation from a school official or clergy member stating that the family would incur a substantial financial hardship in traveling to Nationals.
  3. Write a short essay on how chess has enriched your life. The CSCA may use the essay for publicity or other purposes. The fact that the essay was used to apply for a financial need based scholarship will remain confidential.

Applications must be received by March 4th, 2004. Please mail to:
Karen Herbst
6216 Macon Way
Englewood, CO 80111
(303) 741-9779

The CSCA looks forward to supporting our young talent at the National Championship.
